- Burlington -

Burlington has expanded its list of finalists for city manager.

The city council has decided to add Alan Lanning, who currently serves as City Manager of Central City, CO.

He replaces an individual who withdrew from consideration prior to the names of the finalists being released to the public.

Lanning and the other five finalists are scheduled to be in Burlington on February 17 & 18 for a series of interviews and public forums.

Police Chief Dan Luttenegger is serving as interim city manager.

- West Burlington -

Members of the West Burlington Education Association are seeking raises.

The organization’s initial contract offer to the Board of Education calls for a $1,500 increase in the base pay.

The WBEA would also like additional money to be put into salaries if insurance rates do not increase as anticipated.

The organization is seeking changes in the areas of bereavement and family illness leave and the times for parent-teacher conferences.

- Fort Madison -

Fort Madison is looking for some help from its residents.

The city is accepting applications to fill vacancies on eight boards and commissions.

The list includes the Board of Adjustment, the Human Rights Commission and the Sister City Commission.

Applications are available online or at City Hall.

- Van Buren County, IA -

Van Buren County’s elected leaders will receive a pay increase once the new fiscal year rolls around on July 1.

The Board of Supervisors has agreed to increase salaries by 2.5% for its own members along with the Sheriff, Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder, and Attorney.

That is a reduction, though, compared to the 4% increases recommended by Van Buren County’s compensation board.
