For years, Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL) has been trying to get legislation passed that gives local governments in rural Illinois a better shot at disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  Now the 13th District Congressman said he might finally have his chance.

Davis’ Disaster Declaration Improvement Act (HR 1665) passed the House of Representatives in December, as part of a larger bill for supplemental disaster aid (HR 4667)that is now before the U-S Senate.

llinois Public Radio’s Jim Meadows spoke with Congressman Davis, who said his bill addresses a problem facing governments in downstate Illinois when a natural disaster strikes.

Davis sponsored the bill along with 17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL).
