Body Identified in Burlington

The Burlington Police Department identified the body found in a wooded area near a local grocery store three weeks ago.

Alfredo Rodriguez of Burlington was reported missing by his family on Sept.16, 2012.

Lt. Jeff Klein said the department followed multiple leads since the report, to no avail until the body was discovered on Jan. 22.

He said the identification was made through an autopsy of the skeletal remains and from Rodriguez's personal items found at the scene.

The cause of death is not known at this time.

Lt. Klein said further forensic and anthropological examinations will take place in an effort to reach a conclusion of this case.

He said the investigation is ongoing and that anyone with information related to the disappearance of Alfredo Rodriguez is encouraged to contact the Burlington Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
