Congresswoman Supports Syria Air Strikes

T.J. Carson

Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL) supports the air strikes that were carried out overnight against ISIS.

She said the terrorist organization poses a "very serious" threat.

“There’s concern about the fact that they have a deep hatred for Americans and for America, and we need to do what we can to stop them before they can execute on any kind of threat like that," Bustos said.

She is encouraged that five other nations joined the United States in carrying out the air strikes. President Obama announced the attacks Tuesday and said the multi-national effort demonstrated that America is not alone in the fight against Islamic extremists.

Bustos said that Americans are feeling war weary.

“We have gotten out of one war, we are still in the process of getting out of another, and we’ve got this crisis now with ISIS."

Bustos made her comments to reporters during a stop at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.  She did not take questions on other current events or issues.
