First Hearing for Teacher Accused of Soliciting Student

Warren County Sheriff's Office
Monmouth-Roseville Junior High School teacher Jennifer Rexroat was arrested last month.

A teacher from Monmouth-Roseville Junior High School will find out on July 2 if the state wants to move forward with its case against her.

Jennifer Rexroat, 39, appeared in Warren County Circuit Court Thursday morning for the first hearing in her case. The July 2 preliminary hearing will be used to determine whether the state has enough evidence to continue.

She is charged with Indecent Solicitation of a Child. It is a Class 2 Felony carrying a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

Rexroat was arrested on a warrant April 13 at the Ayerco Convenience Store in Monmouth. She is currently on paid administrative leave from the district.

Investigators allege Rexroat solicited a 15-year-old male Monmouth-Roseville Junior High student to engage in oral sex. They say there is no evidence that the act occurred.

Rexroat was released on a $100,000 bond.

At Thursday's hearing, Rexroat’s attorney asked for a modification of her bond to allow her to leave the state. The judge only approved a request for Rexroat to travel to West Burlington for medical appointments. A request to see family in Missouri was denied.
