Kirsten Wrieden was a first grade teacher at Keokuk's Hawthorne Elementary. She died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while out on a walk.

Funeral arrangements have been set for Kirsten Wrieden, 46, of Keokuk, who died Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle while out on a walk. Wrieden was a 1st grade teacher at Hawthorne Elementary School.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wright Field House on the Keokuk High School campus. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery. The school district said there will be a luncheon at the high school cafeteria following the service.

A visitation will be held Friday at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau in Keokuk after 2:00 p.m. Wrieden's family will meet friends from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

The Iowa State Patrol said Wrieden and another person were walking on Hilton Road at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. A vehicle approaching the pair swerved to avoid an animal and when the driver looked for the animal afterwards, the vehicle struck Wrieden.

Memorials can be made for her children's college fund.

The district said additional support services are being made available for students and staff.
