Sheriff to Try for Second Term

Macomb, IL – McDonough County Sheriff Mike Johnson will try for a second term in office. Johnson says he's been encouraged by the response to his choice of employees and his anti-drug activities. He attributes part of the department's success to its ability to secure law enforcement grants. He says these have provided training for the deputies and equipment such as in-car computers. Johnson will run in the Democrat primary. One other person has announced for the post. He is Hancock County deputy sheriff Mike Van Brooker, who will run in the Republican primary.
