Two Charged with Dealing Heroin

McDonough County Sheriff's Department

McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker said two people arrested Thursday were major heroin dealers in the region.

Robin Myers, 50, and Michael Russell, 32, both of Macomb, are each charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance over 15 grams, possession of hypodermic needles, and calculated drug conspiracy.

VanBrooker said an investigation led to a search warrant being executed at 733 N. Edwards St. in Macomb.  He said heroin, hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, and $1,000 cash were seized.

As part of the investigation, heroin was also seized from a home in Colchester. VanBrooker believes it came from Myers and Russell.

He said Myers scuffled with a detective and jailor while being booked.  He said the altercation started when she tried to destroy another 18 grams of heroin she had hidden inside her body.

As a result, Myers is also charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and obstructing justice.

VanBrooker said the investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
