VoteEasy Now Available in Illinois

The national organization  Project Vote Smart just launched a new online candidate-matching tool called Congressional VoteEasy.

Vote Smart President Richard Kimball said the program makes it fast and easy for voters to choose a candidate who best fits their beliefs.

“You put in your zip code, all the candidates in your area appear on the garden signs in front of the capital building. Then they ask you how you stand on guns or abortion or all sorts of issues,” Kimball said.

Once voters answer questions, the yard signs will either move forward in agreement or move backward in disagreement.

Kimball said it lowers the amount of time voters need to research candidates.  He said Vote Smart has already done the research by using every speech, vote, rating, and campaign contribution on all politicians.

The tool is currently available in Illinois, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota and Ohio.

He said it will be ready in all 50 states well before the November election.
