Monday, December 22:
9:00 a.m. – A Choral Christmas with Stile Antico: The award-winning choir from London pays a visit to St. Paul’s Church on Cambridge, MA’s Harvard Square to sing seasonal music of the renaissance.
10:00 a.m. – Gaudete! Early Music for the Christmas Season: Joyful and contemplative sounds of the season including a Byzantine chant, selections from a Mass by Thomas Tallis, plus hymns and motets from Spain, Germany, and France.
11:00 a.m. – A Chanticleer Christmas: Holiday favorites, new and old, presented live in concert by the superb 12-man ensemble known as ‘an orchestra of voices.’
Tuesday, December 23:
9:00 a.m. – Christmas with the Morehouse & Spelman Glee Clubs: The choirs of two of the most prestigious historically black institutions in the nation get together.
10:00 a.m. – A Rochester Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols: In the style of King’s College in Cambridge, England, the Festival tells the Christmas story in words and music.
11:00 a.m. – Carols, Customs and Candlelight: A Celtic Christmas Celebration: Songs and carols from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and other Celtic nations, by classical ensembles and soloists including Apollo’s Fire and Bryn Terfel.
Wednesday, December 24:
9:00 a.m. – St. Olaf Christmas Festival: A service in song and word. Hymns, carols, choral works and orchestral selections featuring more than 500 student musicians in five choirs, and the St. Olaf College Orchestra.
11:00 a.m. – Christmas On the Air: In the spirit of The Lone Ranger… Our Miss Brooks… and Lux Radio Theater… it’s an original live-acted holiday play in the style of radio’s Golden Age. Presented by members of Playhouse on the Air and the Orpheum Theater in downtown Galesburg, complete with comedy, drama, music… and sound effects!
Thursday December 25:
9:00 a.m. – Welcome Christmas: A perennial Christmas favorite from VocalEssence, one of the world’s premiere choral groups. An hour of traditional carols and new discoveries.
10:00 a.m. – The Christmas Revels: In Celebration of the Winter Solstice: A celebration of the winter holidays--- with carols, wassails, hymns, spirituals, folk-dance tunes, and pub songs---from Revels productions across the country.
Friday December 26:
9:00 a.m. – Winter Holidays Around the World: Bill McLaughlin’s selections take you on a tour of medieval Italian music, tunes by Vaughan Williams and Debussy, a Polynesian hymn, and Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors.
10:00 a.m. – In Winter’s Glow: A winter solstice program, with modern classical sounds chosen especially to compliment the chilly, starry nights of the season
11:00 a.m. – The Sounds of Cinnamon: Jake Armerding invites you to experience coziness and contentment with a hygge soundtrack perfect for finding your favorite pair of slippers and putting your feet up.
Sunday December 28:
7:00 p.m. – Christmas On the Air: catch a repeat broadcast of the old-time-radio-style holiday play.
Monday December 29:
9:00 a.m. – The Film Score: Music for the Winter Holidays: Chicago Tribune film critic Michael Phillips shares an eclectic mix of wintry film scores, from “White Christmas” from “Holiday Inn,” to Bernard Herrmann’s sleigh ride from Orson Welles’ drama “The Magnificent Ambersons.” Bundle up and enjoy!
10:00 a.m. – The Magic of Joe Hisaishi: For forty years, Studio Ghibli’s world-class animated films, with Joe Hisaishi’s unforgettable soundtracks, have enchanted global audiences--- describing childlike wonder, high octane adventure, and the joy of companionship.
