The Burlington Police Department has released the identity of a man who was fatally shot Monday afternoon.
Emergency personnel arrived at the intersection of S. 7th and Elm Streets to find Deonte Carter, 24, of Burlington.
He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead after being taken to Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
The department has not identified a suspect or suspects or a motive for the shooting.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is involved in the investigation, which is ongoing.
