As reported by CNN and other news outlets, two prominent staffers of The New York Times are leaving the paper. Both were involved in high-profile controversies.
Andy Mills produced a 12-part podcast called “Caliphate,” which is about the Islamic State. It turns out a central character in the series was fabricated.
The other prominent staff member to depart is science and health reporter Donald McNeil, Jr. The Daily Beast recently reported that participants in a 2019 school trip to Peru accused McNeil of making "racist and sexist remarks throughout the trip."
