Fort Madison, IA – Jason Parrott's guest is Robin Delaney of Fort Madison.
She is the President of the new non-profit organization, Lights, Camera, Action, which is working to bring family-friendly movies to the city.
Fort Madison has been without a commercial movie theater for years.
Delaney says movies are a great way for families to spend time together, but she says the cost is keeping people away from theaters.
She says LCA will offer free movies with $1 concessions.
Delaney says kids are missing out on the joys of a movie theater with DVD's and internet-based programs.
LCA's debut movie will be the 2009 version of A Christmas Carol. It will premiere Thanksgiving Day at 3:00 P.M. at the Old Fort Players' Playhouse.
Delaney says the goal is to eventually get the movies into the former Fox Theater, but that will take a lot of fundraising and equipment upgrades.
She sees these movies as an opportunity to promote other family-friendly opportunities and also team with neighboring restaurants.
A second movie, The Cowboys," is scheduled for late December.
Donations and concessions will help fund a January movie.
