Stan Carman

Stan Carman, 77, died early Friday at McDonough District Hospital.  Carman served in the Navy and later worked in the private sector before joining the McDonough County Sheriff's Department on January 1, 1967.

He was elected sheriff in 1994 and served two terms before retiring in 2002.

In a written statement, current Sheriff Rick VanBrooker called Carman “a first class person.”  VanBrooker said when he took office in 2006, Carman provided great help and that he sought Carman’s advice many times.

A Masonic service is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Monday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb.

Carman will be buried in Industry Cemetery.
