Industry Detachment Hearing Held Over

Macomb, IL – Those in favor of moving property from the Industry School District to the Macomb district made their case to the Regional Board of School Trustees this week. But because the hearing went on so long, it was continued until May 4, when opponents will argue their side of the issue. Supporters say Macomb is their "Community of Interest." They also believe opportunities for their children are better there. Opponents of the detachment will include the Industry and Schuyler County school districts, who believe they can't afford the loss of assessed value or students. A circuit court lawsuit that seeks to overturn last November's election that merged the Industry and Schuyler County districts has also been continued until next month to hear motions.
