Keokuk Pavilion Fees Tabled

The Keokuk City Council doesn’t know how to proceed with a rental fee schedule for a popular city facility.

The Rand Park Pavilion Commission established the schedule, on its own, several years ago.

According to Keokuk’s city code, the commission is in charge of management for all facets of the pavilion.  It also says rules and regulations are subject to city council approval.

The schedule finally went before the city council earlier this month.

No decision was made, though, because aldermen tabled it.

Alderman Ron Payne says he needed more information.

“It’s not so much that I am opposed to the fee schedule that they have,” says Payne.  “I would like to know a little more before I say yes.”

The issue about the fee schedule came to light after Alderman Zane Zirkel questioned the need to charge non-profit groups to use the Rand Park Pavilion.

Mayor Tom Marion says the pavilion can still be rented, despite the vote being delayed, at the current fee schedule.
