Macomb Third Ward Alderman Lou Gilbert died Thursday. The city says funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
“As a Councilman, Lou was a dedicated public servant and as a colleague, he was a thoughtful, considerate gentleman,” said Mayor Mike Inman in a statement issued by the city.
Gilbert was first elected in 2001. He was Chair of the Public Transportation Committee and Vice Chair of the Public Works Committee.
Gilbert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked professionally as a painter.
UPDATE: Visitation will be Sunday, May 25, noon - 2:00 pm at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, 201 West Carroll St in Macomb, with the funeral service following.
