More Lofts Planned for Downtown Monmouth

More upscale housing is coming to Monmouth’s downtown.

The second and third floors of the Patton Block Building on the northwest corner of the square will be converted into eight high-end loft apartments.

This is Frantz-Community Investors’ second apartment remodeling project in Monmouth.

The developer converted downtown space into seven loft apartments last year. Economic Development Director Paul Schuytema said all those units are occupied.

"The growth that we’ve got going on in Monmouth -- we can’t get housing fast enough so we’re really excited about that."

Schuytema said there’s space for about another 15 to 20 downtown apartments.

Work on the latest project should begin this fall with renovations completed by next summer.
