New Facility for West Burlington

West Burlington is proceeding with plans to build a new home for several city departments.

The West Burlington City Council has hired Snyder and Associates (Ankeny, IA) to design a new public works facility.

The roughly 22,000 square foot building would be located at the intersection of Mount Pleasant and Washington Streets.

City Administrator Dan Gifford says Snyder and Associates will also oversee the bid process.

He says the new facility would replace three, aging buildings currently used by the water, streets, sewer and parks departments.

Gifford says that would improve efficiency and cut down on utility expenses.

The design work will cost about $250,000, which West Burlington will borrow from a local bank.

Gifford says TIF district revenue would be used to pay for construction.

He estimates the new facility could cost as much as $2-million, depending on the final design.
