In a news release, the company said it will transfer production of its 250 Series vinyl windows from Murray, Kentucky to Macomb, Illinois. According to Pella, the 250 Series is one of its most popular products.
Pella said its facility in Kentucky has reached capacity while Macomb has about 50,000 square feet available and a favorable labor market for hiring.
Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Kim Pierce told Tri States Public Radio the expansion will include three new production assembly lines and a new glass production department. She said it will bring between 100 and 120 new full-time jobs to town.
“This is really part of their expansion out of the wood into the vinyl windows. Its good news for west central Illinois as well as the Macomb community to see all these new jobs created over the next 18-24 months,” Pierce said.
Pierce said the jobs could bring substantial revenue into the community. She said Pella currently employs about 200 people in Macomb.
A spokesperson from Pella was not immediately available to comment.
Pella's headquarters are in Pella, Iowa. The company operates nine manufacturing plants in the U.S.
