SCC Looking to Upgrade Keokuk Campus

Southeastern Community College has some big plans for its Keokuk campus.

The college has been working on a master facilities plan for just over one year.

President Michael Ash says the current facilities are in great shape, but can use some modernization and upgrades.

He unveiled a conceptual design for an enhanced campus during a public forum in Keokuk Wednesday night.

Dr. Ash says the idea is to make the campus feel more like a larger college.

"I think it is going to provide better facilities for our students," says Ash.  "Secondly, I think it is going to provide an avenue to market to our students and our potential students and increase our enrollment."

The conceptual design includes a student center, a student services building, a full service kitchen, a community room and more green space.

A similar design is available for the West Burlington campus.

Detailed designs will be created once the facilities plan is accepted and an architectural firm is hired.

SCC’s Board of Trustees is expected to do both during its meeting on Monday.
