UPDATE: COVID-19 Outbreak at School in Rushville

The Schuyler County Health Department on Tuesday reported four confirmed cases of COVID-19 related to Webster Elementary School.

UPDATE: The next day, the county reported another COVID-19 outbreak in Rushville. The latest one is at the Fitness and Community Center Daycare program. The department said there are four cases related to the facility.

The county health department said the Illinois Department of Public Health defines an outbreak at a congregate setting as two or more lab confirmed cases along with reports of others who are ill with symptoms.

The county said  both facilities are cooperating with health officials to limit the outbreak:

  • Students, teachers, and staff are being tested for COVID-19
  • Those who feel ill are being told to stay home
  • Increased disinfection efforts are underway
  • Masks are being worn indoors
  • Social distancing is being maintained

The county health department said that throughout Schuyler County between Thursday, September 9, and Monday, September 13, the county had 18 new cases of COVID-19. Eight of the people are under the age of 20, including three under age 10.
Six people recovered from the virus during that time frame.

The county reported no new cases on Monday, September 13.
