American politician accused of killing reporter

The Las Vegas Review-Journal had to report on one of its own journalists being killed. Jeff German was found stabbed to death.

In what the paper called a stunning development, Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles was arrested on suspicion of murder in the case. The paper said German’s investigation of turmoil in the politician’s office contributed to his primary election loss in June.

The investigative reporter was pursuing a potential follow-up story about Telles in the weeks before he was killed. Police said Telles’ DNA was found at the scene of the fatal stabbing.

Newspaper Executive Director Glenn Cook called it outrageous that a journalist appears to have been killed for reporting on an elected official.
