Construction on the Central Lee School District's campus near Donnellson is expected to increase significantly in the next few years. That’s because residents on Tuesday approved a $12.9 million bond issue to pay for facility improvements.

The Central Lee School District's attempt to pass a multi-million dollar bond referendum to fund facility improvements came up just short last fall, so the district will try again during a special election on Tuesday (September 10). The head of the district said this is the time to act to provide a better education for students for years to come.

The Central Lee School District has a long list of facility improvements it wants to complete in the next few years. But it needs the support of its constituents to make that happen.

The Central Lee School District's facilities advisory committee recommended about $13.3 million in additions and upgrades to the campus outside Donnellson. It appears voters will have the final say in whether the proposal becomes a reality.
