The Western Illinois Museum staged a historic documentary theater production about Josie Westfall.  She was the founder and matron of the McDonough County Orphanage.

On February 29th, my children and I found ourselves coatless in Chandler Park, enjoying the pink evening hour of a jeweled day. My daughter and I investigated the bronze statue entitled "Facing the Storm."

Chandler Park in downtown Macomb contains numerous statues honoring those who have served in the military.  Now it also has a memorial dedicated to the pioneering women of social activism in McDonough County.

A social event marked the next step to honor the pioneering women of social activism in Macomb.

Aldermen will be asked during their September 17 meeting to approve a plan for placing a new statue in the southwest part of Chandler Park.

“This memorial will celebrate women,” said Tina Belz of the Macomb Women's Club. “It will be a source of ongoing understanding of the value of women's contributions to our community.”

The agreement between the club and the city also establishes the dimensions of the statue and its surrounding plaza.
