The Lee County Board this week approved 3% salary hikes for County Auditor Denise Fraise, County Recorder Nancy Booten, County Sheriff Stacy Weber, and County Treasurer Chris Spann. The chief deputies in each office will receive a similar raise because their salaries are based on a percentage of what their boss is paid.

The board met Wednesday morning in the north Lee County office building in Fort Madison. At the top of the agenda was the selection of a Chair/Vice Chair.

Voters told the Lee County Board in November to repair the county’s historic courthouses in Keokuk and Fort Madison instead of building a new courthouse near the county jail. The board appears to be listening, as it approved the hiring of a construction manager, this week, to prioritize and oversee upcoming projects.

Some big questions must be answered about the future of Lee County's combined emergency dispatch center. The agreement that created LeeComm expires next summer and there are concerns it will not be renewed.
