There is new fallout from the recent discovery of a 2012 email obtained by WBEZ that refers to an unspecified "rape in Champaign."  Illinois Agriculture Secretary John Sullivan has resigned.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture has submitted their final draft of rules for the industrial hemp program. There were a few noteworthy changes made from the initial draft that was posted back in late Dec. 2018. 

Slow internet service can slow a business down, adding up to lost time and money. And often the problem is worse in rural areas.

That’s one reason John Sullivan, acting director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, said improving internet access is a top priority for him.

“If there isn’t adequate access to high-speed internet, it really drags and holds back the possibility for jobs and opportunities in those areas,” he said.

Jil Tracy Begins Senate Career

Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) was sworn in Wednesday for the new session of the Illinois General Assembly. Tracy will serve a two-year Senate term representing the 47th District. She ran unopposed to fill the seat left vacant by retiring Democrat John Sullivan of Rushville.

WIU Details Furlough Plan

Western Illinois University said its plan requiring non-negotiated administrative employees to take unpaid days off the will save $4 million.  The furlough days will begin next month and continue through June 30, which is the end of the fiscal year.
