Southeastern Community College is looking for ways to increase enrollment, even as it waits to release its official student count for Fall 2017.  President Michael Ash said community colleges focus primarily on recruiting students from local high schools. He said, though, that that is becoming more of a challenge.

The men's basketball team at Southeastern Community College is beginning 2017 with a new head coach, following the retirement of Terry Carroll after ten years at the helm. Assistant Coach Lorenzo Watkins has been named Interim Head Coach.

SCC's Board of Trustees has now voted to terminate the contracts of four faculty members in the last week, the latest of which occurred Monday night. President Michael Ash said all four have requested private hearings with the board.


Southeastern Community College (SCC) is in the midst of a multi-million dollar makeover, adding several new educational buildings to its campuses in West Burlington and Keokuk. Now, a four-story residence hall on the West Burlington campus has been added to the so-called "Building the Dream" campaign.

No one was "tossing taters" around SCC's Loren Walker Gymnasium. But there were students from across southeast Iowa enjoying the college's first Tater Toss.

Southeastern Community College President Michael Ash said the groundbreaking ceremony for the school's new Health Professions Center on the West Burlington campus was about more than just "moving some dirt."  He said it was about establishing a new vision for SCC.
