Admire sentencing continued, bond revoked

Court news from Tri States Public Radio.

Sentencing has been pushed back a month for a former mixed martial arts coach convicted of sexually assaulting and sexually abusing a girl who trained with him at his Monmouth gym more than a decade ago.

Beau W. Admire, now 43, was scheduled to be sentenced Friday following a bench trial on May 30, where he was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, authority, or supervision over the victim.

Admire was around 30 at the time of the abuse. The victim was 12 when she started training with Admire and 13 when the abuse began.

On Wednesday, Judge James Standard granted a defense motion to continue the sentencing hearing over an objection from Warren County State’s Attorney Thomas Siegel.

Defense attorney Andrew Stuckart’s motion stated he did not receive the pre-sentencing investigation reports or bench trial transcripts in time to file post-trial motions, including a motion for a new trial.

Stuckart further claimed he would not have adequate time to review the documents or prepare post-trial motions because he was representing the defendant in a McDonough County murder trial that concluded Aug. 1 after a few days of testimony.

In that case, the jury deliberated for only an hour before finding Dylan Lovato, now 25, guilty in the March 2022 shooting death of Ivan Almanza, 23, in a Macomb apartment.

Though Judge Standard granted the defense motion, the court filed its own motion revoking Admire’s bond.

Admire was arrested Nov. 2, 2022, on a $100,000 warrant and posted bond. He was operating a mixed martial arts gym – and coaching minors – in Galesburg at the time. Badger Combatives has since closed.

At the conclusion of Wednesday’s hearing, Admire was remanded to the custody of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Siegel said.

Sentencing is now scheduled for Aug. 30.

Siegel said Admire must serve sentences on the three counts consecutively, per state statutes.

So Admire, a former correctional officer, faces a minimum sentence of 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
