Burlington, IA – City Manager Doug Worden will step down at the end of the year after more than three decades with the city of Burlington.
Human Resources Director Bev Hunter says the city has received proposals from seven firms interested in leading the search process to replace Worden.
She says the city council narrowed the list to three based on the members' individual preferences.
Voorhees Associates - Deerfield, IL
Brimeyer Fursman - Maplewood, MN
Snyder & Associates - Cedar Rapids, IA
Hunter says representatives of the three firms will be interview next week.
She expects the city council to select one before Thanksgiving.
Hunter says almost all of the bids came in at about $20,000.
She says Snyder's bid was roughly half of that because city staff would handle a good deal of the day-to-day work.
Hunter says once a firm is selected, a timeline for replacing Worden will be established.
