Another Candidate for Sheriff

Macomb, IL – A second candidate is joining the Republican primary for McDonough County sheriff. 55-year old Rick Allaman wants to place a greater emphasis on fighting crime in the rural parts of the county. Allaman thinks he can increase the department's visibility in rural areas without increasing its staff size. Allaman also thinks the department needs to cut back on unnecessary spending. He did not offer his specific plans, saying those will come out during the campaign. Allaman is from rural Macomb. He spent more than two decades with the sheriff's department before retiring last year. The other announced candidate for the G.O.P. nomination is Rick VanBrooker of Macomb, who is a Hancock County deputy. The current sheriff is Mike Johnson, who says he will run for a second term.
