Give Peace A Chance

Macomb, IL – Chandler Park in Macomb is home to several monuments honoring soldiers. For a couple hours over the weekend, it hosted another tribute to troops. In this case, it was a rally calling for troops to be brought back home from Iraq. Around 150 people took part in the demonstration on a chilly early spring afternoon. They heard from a half-dozen speakers and signed petitions that called for troops to be brought back home. Those petitions will be sent to the White House and Congress. Peace-themed bumper stickers and buttons were also available. A number of people in the crowd held American flags. Others carried signs with messages such as "Peace Also Takes Courage" and "Support Our Troops - Bring Them Home Now." News Director Rich Egger was at the rally and you can hear his feature on it by clicking on the audio button above.
