Building Purchased for City Office Expansion

Bushnell, IL – Bushnell is purchasing a closed lumberyard to gain storage space and more room for city offices. Mayor Steve Russell says the building at the former MBS Lumberyard will provide needed storage space for the city's utility operations. It adjoins a city-owned lot where power poles are now stored. Russell says the office portion of the building will become the new police department. It will give greater visibility to the department, which is now in a small office on a side street to the downtown area. Russell says the city was planning to construct a building for $250,000. Purchasing the lumberyard will cost about $140,000.
