Keokuk's 4th of July Celebration in the Works

Keokuk, IA – This year's July 4 celebration could be an all day event for Keokuk residents. The park board is lining up events for Independence Day in Rand Park. President Charles Belba says some of the activities already in place are a dunk tank, a softball game, a dance performance, and contests for singing and for pizza pan throwing. He expects the turnout to be pretty good because of where July 4 falls on the calender this year. The events will get underway about noon. Belba says the goal is to get more people to enjoy Keokuk's park system. He says volunteers and sponsors are still needed for the many events. There will also be food and craft tents. Belba says anyone with ideas or are willing to help can get in touch with the park board by contacting City Hall.
