Keokuk Police Investigating School District Employee

Keokuk, IA – The Keokuk Police Department is investigating an incident involving a local teacher. The police department's investigative unit is conducting an investigation into allegations of inappropriate actions of a Keokuk High School teacher. A statement issued by Police Chief Tom Crew goes on to say that the investigation is ongoing and that no arrests have been made at this time. Keokuk Superintendent Jane Babcock confirms there is an investigation underway involving a staff member, but would not elaborate on who was being investigated. She says the issue is a personnel matter, which she says is considered confidential under Iowa Code. Babcock would also not confirm if the staff member in question has been placed on administrative leave.
