Carthage, IL – Carthage's Plan Commission has passed on to the city council a development plan for land near the Route 336 bypass. The proposal will be considered by the city council later next month. Economic Developer Brenda Pyatt says the three-year study includes recommendations for development, along with guidelines for signs and landscaping. She says the goal is to promote orderly development. The council is working on annexing the land to the city. Pyatt says the next step would be converting the study recommendations into ordinances that would regulate development. Streets and water and sewer lines would also have to be constructed.
