Springfield, IL – Two Democrats have filed to run for legislative seats in western Illinois. The districts have been controlled by Republicans for many years. Chuck Scholz has been tabbed to run for state representative in the 93rd District. The seat is being vacated by Republican Art Tenhouse, who will step down in a couple months to take another job. Tenhouse held the seat for more than 16 years. Scholz served three terms as Quincy's mayor before retiring in 2005. Meanwhile, Tim Frier of Macomb has agreed to be a temporary candidate for state representative in the 94th District. Frier says he does not intend to run for the seat, but will hold onto the ballot spot until the party chooses someone else. Frier says his candidacy has just two themes: "Find My Replacement" and "I Will Not Serve If Elected." The current representative in the district is Republican Rich Myers, who is running for his seventh term.
