Rushville, IL – The Schuyler County Ambulance Service is using a federal grant to help purchase a replacement for its 1984 vehicle. Coordinator Richard Utter says the $35,000 from the USDA's Rural Development allowed him to buy a larger vehicle with better equipment than what he had planned to get. Utter says the ambulance being replaced will be turned into a rescue vehicle with equipment to be used at accident scenes. He says this would include the "Jaws of Life" and other extrication equipment. The service is supported by the county, along with some fees, grants, and donations.
