Augusta, IL – The Southeastern school district has approved demolition of part of its high school building and ordered classrooms for this fall. Board president Lyle Paben says the district will spend more than $500,000 for 19 trailers that will be assembled into three classroom units. He says the structures should be delivered next month and will be ready for occupancy in early August. The board approved a $340,000 contract for demolition of the older portion of the high school that was damaged in a March fire. Other parts of the building including the gymnasium and agriculture shop are still usable. Paben says some rebuilding will have to be done on common walls that might have been damaged by the fire. He says architects tell him it's possible that the classroom wing could be rebuilt within two years.
