Macomb, IL – Two athletes from western Illinois are honing their skills for world competition. Athletes don't reach that level without some help. In this case, some highly-regarded martial arts instructors are coaching them. Kaleb Keeran of Colchester and Justin Watchendorf of Macomb are currently the national champions in the Ju-Jitsu Duo Competition. They will try to defend their title next month and qualify for the world competition, which is held every other year. Their lead coach is Western Illinois Shotokan Karate owner Ed Kuras, who is confident the duo can get the job done. He's brought in a couple highly regarded experts to help out. They are George Anderson, who's a ninth degree ju-jitsu black belt, and George Vance, who's a sixth degree black belt.
