Macomb, IL – The Schuyler-Industry school district will appeal a decision that transfers more than a dozen of its students and some of its real estate to the Macmb school district. The Hancock-McDonough Regional Board of School Trustees granted the detachment, citing the best interests of the students. Schuyler County Superintendent Matt Plater believes the board overlooked several factors and says a circuit court appeal will be filed within 35 days. Parents seeking the detachment said their children would have better opportunities in the Macomb district. During the hearing, the Schuyler-Industry attorney tried to show that offerings were comparable and the detachment shold not be granted.
