Old Factory Might Undergo Further Renovations

Macomb, IL – A couple parts of the former Porcelain Products Company plant in Macomb have already been converted for new uses. The city is now looking at renovating a third portion of the sprawling building. The proposal calls for using the west end of the site for a centralized vehicle maintenance facility for McDonough County Public Transportation. The state is pushing public transportation agencies to centralize their garages and is offering money for them to do so. The federal government is offering even more. But it might take two or three years before all the funding falls into place and the renovations are completed. Mayor Mick Wisslead says the city is also looking at a couple other sites for the facility, but he says the former PPC plant is the top choice.
