Nauvoo, IL – Nauvoo residents are being asked just how they would like the city to grow. Mayor John McCarty says a survey by the Western Illinois Regional Council is asking residents questions such as where they would like new businesses to go, or how the town's zoning regulations could be changed. He says the answers will be discussed by the town's plan commission before being forwarded to the council. McCarty says the last questionnaires should be complete within a few weeks. However, he says it could take up to 18 months for the council to finish with the comprehensive plan. McCarty says aldermen decided on re-doing their plan because the town's population was not growing, and the council wants to foster business growth.
