MAEDCO Gathering Ethanol Interest

Macomb, IL – The Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation has fielded at least five inquiries about establishing an ethanol or biodiesel plant in the region. Executive Director Kim Pierce says two factors seem to spur interest. One is the large amount of corn and soybeans grown in the region for use in ethanol or biodiesel. She says the other thing people mention when they call is rail transportation along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad. Pierce describes the callers as interested, but not yet ready to commit to building a plant.
