Committee Almost Balances Rushville Spending

Rushville, IL – Rushville's Finance Committee has developed an appropriations ordinance that's within $220,000 of being in balance. Aldermen recently rejected an ordinance athat was more than $800,000 out of balance. Finance Committee Chairman Scott Thompson says the new document includes no tax or fee increases. However, he believes aldermen might have to consider them later in the year. The city faces capital spending for a new well and a sewer extension during the current year. Thompson says it's likely that the city would be able to avoid some of the spending called for in the ordinance. He says that would bring the income and outgo figures closer together.
