Macomb, IL – The Macomb Park District's development plan does not include a price tag yet, but it does propose some significant changes to existing parks. Patton Park would become home to a mini-arboretum, a disc golf course, and a sledding hill. It would also have basketball courts and a dog park. Downing Park would get a water playground, a walking path, and a recreation center. The building could also serve as a community center. In addition, it would house the district's administration offices. The ball diamonds would be removed from those parks so that all of the district's baseball and softball diamonds could be located at the 80-acre University Drive property. That site would also have soccer fields, a special events area, and walking and bicycling trails. The plans were unveiled Thursday and the park district will hold two more public meetings to gather more input. They will be held August 1 beginning at 6:00 p.m. and August 9 at 5:00 p.m. Both will be held at the park district offices and last two hours. Changes could be made to the development plans based on the input received at the meetings.
