Dallas City, IL – The Dallas Rural Water District will use a federal loan and grant to expand its system. Office Manager Mary Brown says some of the money will be used to drill new wells near Warsaw and Lomax. She says that will provide more water for future expansion, including the expected service to the West Prairie Rural Water Cooperative in western McDonough County. The rest of the money will extend service to abouat 170 families in southwestern Hancock County. Brown says some of the families had first applied for rural water up to ten years ago, but there was no money available to finance expansion. The district will receive more than $2 million from the USDA. More than half of that is in the form of a loan which will be paid back over a forty-year period.
