Hancock, Lee County Developers to Meet

Carthage, IL – Hancock and Lee County economic developers plan to meet regularly to maintain liaison. Hancock County Economic Developer Brenda Piatt says the groups can keep each other aware of opportunities, and something that might not be appropriate for one county might be for the other. She says one example is support businesses for the proposed Siemens wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in Lee County. She says the company prefers to have its support businesses locate near the plant. She says Lee County's economic development director has gone to Denmark to find out what type of support businesses the Siemens plant might need. Piatt says he liaison could be especially important as the fledgling Port and Economic Development Authority begins operations.
