Quincy, IL – One local legislative candidate says the state should be doing more to invest in West Central Illinois. Kelly Street says that could include infrastructure or education, especially job-specific training for employees in advanced fields. The Scott County democrat says the biggest impact could be seen if Illinois does more to promote biodiesel and ethanol production with the 93rd district. Street believes an expanded use of tax incentives and abatements would entice more development in West Central Illinois. He says the state needs to make sure, when it provides tax dollars to businesses and industries, that the companies are treating employees properly and creating jobs. Street says the state and the 93rd district cannot be afraid of taking a chance and making an investment in alternative fuels. He is running against Republican Representative Jil Tracy.
