Carthage, IL – The roof of the cafeteria building at Carthage's Robert Morris College has fallen in. The city has filed to demolish the structure. Mayor James Nightingales says the owners have been given 15 days to demolish the building, or come up with a plan to do so. He says the roof has been in bad repair for more than a year, but when it fell the city believed it had to take action. The campus has been empty for years. Several efforts to sell it have not succeeded. The town's community development office is also working to find a buyer for the grounds and buildings.
